This concertina book combines materials chosen for their visual and symbolic weight. The hard cover is made from black bookbinding fabric layered beneath Aida cloth, into which I hand-stitched embroidery using red and white thread, symbols of pain, resilience, and memory. The pages are printed on 190 gsm paper, sturdy enough to support the accordion structure while displaying photographs of the installation and personal reflections.
This concertina book is a continuation of my installation Until the Sky is Quiet. Through photographs, handwritten notes, and embroidered imagery, it documents broken plates, mended objects, and quiet moments shaped by war. The format unfolds like memory: layered, fragile, continuous, offering an intimate space to reflect on resilience, identity, and everyday life in Ukraine.
